Current executing task

Hi everyone

I'm trying to write a monitoring application for SSIS packages deployed on my machine. I know I can look at running packages via the DtsRuntime.Application object's GetRunningPackages method. Does anyone know if there is any way one can view tasks in that package that are currently being executed?

Cheers

Sachin

Wow! Brilliant! I was hoping for at least one reply... I guess I have to question whether this is possible or not. :)|||

You can, but it comes down to implementing the IDTSEvents interface, and/or overriding the packageEvents class.

You will then override the the function's OnPreExecute/OnPostExecute in your execution + monitoring application.

This "get current running tasks" would be much eaiser if there were not in bug in Application.GetRunningPackages() in which in InstanceId (the unique job execution identifier) does not match the execution id in the logs. If it did, you could call get running Packages, and then use logging to determine what was running and be close to on the money.

To me, the bug is analogous to logging the SQL Server spid in SQL profiler, but having it never match "select spid from master..sysprocesses".

You posted at 17:09 and then sent this reply at 09:20 on the next working day. GIve people a chance! Also, nobody is required to answer you know.

As jaegd said, you can derive this by looking at the OnPreExecute/OnPostExecute events.

Ok. Thanks jaegd.

Jamie - I realize that nobody has to answer. No offense intended. It was just that 50-odd people had viewed the topic and there hadn't been a response, so I was just thinking out aloud. That's all.

Cube process problem. Urgent

Hi,

After I changed password for my machine, the cubes process

got system error: “ The following system error occurred:Logon failure: unknown user name or bad

password. “ We have 10 more cubes and still can browse the cubes but no any cube

can processes now.

Before I changed password, everything is working.

We use ‘Windows

Authentication’ for SQL server 2005 Database and Analysis Service.

Anyone can help this problem?

Thanks.

Hello! Check this. Open the cube project in BIDS and change the impersonation mode to default in the data connection.

Hi,

If by any chance that does not work,

set specific credentials for the username and password in the impersonation mode tab.

Also, as a secondary check, see if the user has process permissions.

Regards

Vijay R

|||It sounds like the SSAS service on the server may be set up to use your account. Jump on to the server and check the account credentials using the SQL Server Configuration Manager application. If the service is running under your user account you will either need to update the password or preferrably set up an account for the SSAS service.|||Thank you very much Thomas and Vijay for replaying my email.

I changed the impersonation mode to default then processing works.

Thanks a lot.

CSRSS.EXE and SP3

Hi,
I've had this same issue on two machines, one Win2k3 Server and a XP SP1
machine.
The problem is that after installing SP3 opening any SQL Gui tool (I think
it's only that as osql.exe don't cause this) including the SQL Service
Manager causes CSRSS.EXE to spike at 100% and basically render the machine
unusable. Closer inspection reveals that it's continually respawning
whichever application you opened.
I've seen this referenced [1] a while back but no real cause/solutions :S
Any help would greatly appreciated as it's quite urgent that I get a working
SQL server.
Thanks in advance,
Armand

cscript execution problems after windows updates/ie7 install

after windows updates/ie7 install on windows 2003 SP1 machine with SQL2000
SP4 buil 8.0.2039 we can no longer execute cscript from sql example:
***********************
declare @.script varchar(8000)
set @.script = 'cscript.exe'
create table #output (
output varchar(8000)
)
insert into #output
exec master.dbo.xp_cmdshell @.script
select * from #output
drop table #output

returns NULL
Any ideas?
my error was slightly different and I tried all sorts of things from checking
the nessessary permissions for sql service accounts to proxy accounts etc. at
the end I ended up manually uninstalling one by one all microsoft patches I
installed that caused this and it fixed it!
check that the service account sql is running under has permission for the

Crystl32 ocx vanished ???

Hi. I'm puzzled. I can't reference to CR from within VB6. I have both
VB6 and VS.Net installed on my machine, and from VB.NET I can insert
the component Crystal Reports (which sets a refernce to C:\Program
Files\Common Files\Crystal
Decisions\1.0\Managed\CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.dll which
is version 9.1.3300.0. However, from within VB6 I can't set any
reference to this dll.

I have not really used Crystal Reports from VB6 before, so I don't know
how to do it. I know for sure that it is possible to do it, though, so
I'm trying.

The client does not want to use .Net (actually, some of the machines
this little utility program will be installed on are running Win98), so
I need to use VB6.

I searched my drive for any OCX ressembling Crystal, and I couldn't
find anything. When I tried to reference the above-mentioned dll, VB6
says "Can't add a reference to the specified file". I thought that
maybe when I installed VS6 I forgot to install Crystal as an option,
but no, Crystal is not even mentioned in the installation routine.

Please tell me, how can I start producing a report from VB6 ?

>From within VB6/References I can only see (under "C") the dlls from

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Crystal Decisions\1.0\Managed\, which I
can't use. In other words, I can't find any CR COM object....

>From VB6/Components/Insertable Objects I only see Crystal Analysis

Common Controls 1.0. In VB6/Components/Controls and
VB6/Components/Designers, nothing.
I tried to browse my drive for anything ressembling CR, to no avail.
Please help...

Thank you very much, Alex. That is because the CR that is bundled with .NET is a lite version of CR. Not to mention that is is the .NET compatible version and should give the errors when trying to reference from a VB6 project. You need the Full version of CR so it will be available in either development environment.|||Yes, thank you, Rob, but it's still confusing: VB6 did not come with a crystl32.ocx (of some version, whatever that might have been) ? I do *NOT* want to necessarily use the .NET version - the old (vb6) version would do jut fine, in this particular case..

Thanks again for you time.
Alex.|||If you are using vb6 there still may be something you can do. On the VB6 CD there is a old version of the CR ocx. I think its Crystal.ocx or Crystal32.ocx version 4.6. I dont think its that powerful but if your only needing something basic it may help.
